Overview

Discover Andros Island. the largest and most untouched island of the Bahamas.   Great for couples, this island features amazing opportunities for kayaking, bird watrching, hiking, diving, snorkeling, fishing and relaxing on the white sandy beaches.

Itinerary Highlights

Day 1

Fly from Toronto Pearson Airport (other departure cities available) to Nassau Bahamas.  Once in Nassau, fly or take a boat shuttle to Andros Town.    A short shuttles takes you to your island retreat for the next week, Small Hope Lodge.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast prepare to be amazed as you don your snorkel mask and fans and plunge into the turquoise waters of the Bahamas.  Explore the marine wonderland of fish, coral, and rays.  Return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and a cold drink.  As the sun rises high in the sky relax in the shade of a palm tree with a good book, or take a stoll along the beach.   Enjoy dinner in an open air restaurant and fall asleep in your private cabana under the stars

Day 3

Awake to another beautiful day in the Andros Island.   An amazing half day of kayaking awaits you.  Paddle a single or tandem kayak over the turquoise waters as your guide shares the history of the Andros.   Enjoy a picnic lunch and then cool off with a swim and optional snorkel.  Return to the hotel for an siesta before another homemade dinner.

Day 4

Enjoy a relaxing morning where the only thing on your interary is to finish a chapter of your book, write a postcard to home, or take a stoll along the pristine white sandy beach.   Optional afternoon bike ride to visit the blue hole, similar to a cenote that drops almost straight down about 200 feet into the limestone. At high tide, it floods with salt water, but once the tide rolls back out, the sea water settles and fresh water rises to fill the upper 40 feet or so of the sink.

Day 5 & 6

There are no itinerary for your final days so you can relax on the beach, snorkel on your own or take the kayaks out for another paddle.   Finish up your book, go for a bike ride, walk on the beach and take in the breathtaking views

Day 7

Early morning depature from Andros Town to Nassau.   Depending on how much time you have between your arrival in Nassau and your departing flight for home consider some of the below activites to pass the time!

2+ hours to spare?

Visit Orange Hill, an out island style hotel overlooking the beach, or if after 11am, visit Traveller’s Rest, a truly Bahamian restaurant run by Jeff Birch’s mother, Joan Hanna, and step father, Duke Hanna. The food is great, the view of the ocean beautiful, and the Banana Daquiris fabulous.  Travel time is about 10 minutes to either place. The taxi fare should not be more than $12 each way.

3+ hours to spare? If you would like to see Cable Beach or do a bit of gambling, try the Wyndam Crystal Palace Casino (give luggage to bellman and go to the "Seagrape" restaraunt and then venture out from there). Androsia of Cable Beach also has a store in the mall between the Crystal Palace Casino and the Radisson Hotel. Travel time is about 20 minutes each way.

4+ hours to spare? Take a taxi to Bay Street, home of the Straw Market, lots of shops, and the Pirate Museum. Have the taxi drop you at the British Colonial Hilton, tip the bellman and give him your luggage. Travel time is a little over 30 minutes each way.

Try to check-in your luggage at your connecting flight, if that is not possible you can always leave it with the bellman at any of the hotels mentioned.
