Overview
Voyageur Quest introduces an epic canoe adventure for 2010. This annual one time departure in June follows the Voyageur fur trade route down the French River from Wolseley Bay to Georgian Bay. Like the Voyageurs, this is a demanding journey that involves paddling over 100 kilometres in one day! This trip is not for the weak at heart. Are you ready for this challenge?
Itinerary Highlights
Friday, June 18 - Day 1:
Arrive early afternoon in Toronto and fly north to Wolseley Bay. Enjoy a first class and hearty dinner at The Lodge at Pine Cove, set in a private and pristine cove between Wolseley Bay and Pine Cove Bay.
Accommodation: Private room at the Lodge at Pine Cove
Saturday, June 19 - Day 2:
Prepare for an epic paddle! 4:30am marks the start of this Voyageur “courier de bois”marathon covering over 100 kilometers of the beautiful French River. In your path are flats, rapids, twists and turns. Expect the unexpected as you challenge your mind and body. Complete the challenge and reach the French River delta and out onto Georgian Bay for a spectacular sunset. A Voyageur Celebration awaits featuring a feast of Georgian Bay whitefish, Prince Edward County wine, pork’n beans, rum and music!
Accommodation: Camping on the 30,000 islands.
Sunday, June 20, - Day 3:
Wake to the summer sun and enjoy a maple syrup breakfast. After a final cup of coffee, a float plane arrives and we fly south over the lakes and shield to Toronto, arriving around 10:15am.
