Itinerary Highlights
Stay at a beautiful Bed & Breakfast, just minutes from Pacific Rim National Park and discover something new every day as you kayak, hike and explore Ucluelet Sound. Travel to Vancouver Airport and then travel either by bus or rental car to Ucluelet, your home for the next 5 days. Each day will be a new adventure as you explore the area by ground and water.
Day Trip Highlights
Day Trip #1 - Kayak Ucluelet Harbour
Inside the harbour where there are sheltered waters with no waves, paddle up to a beautiful hidden waterfall or visit the local fish hatchery. There is always plenty of wildlife inside Ucluelet Harbour. Watch for black bears, along the shoreline and eagles circling overhead. Harbour seals pop their heads up to watch us paddle by and sealions call to the fishing docks along the water’s edge. Historic old pre-wartime houses, big steal fishing boats and old wooden trollers tell the story of this quaint fishing village.
Day Trip #2 - Barclay Sound Sea Kayaking
Travel by van, approximately 45 minutes to Toquart Bay beach which is located in a sheltered bay with wonderful views of the inner islands of Barkley Sound. After a safely lesson, paddle as a group for a few hours in the morning until you arrive at a sandy beach for a gourmet buffet lunch. As the day progresses, wildlife such as eagles, shore birds, sea lions, seals, mink, river otters, and possibly whales will be sighted. Weave in and out of the many islands and get in closer look.
Day Trip #3 - Outside Waters Whale Watching and Sea Kayaking
See the best of Ucluelet Harbour! Paddle out to the George Fraser Islands; squeeze your kayak through the little passage into the Caribbean like lagoon. Discover the ancient native whaling beach and the incredible rock formations. Bears haunt this site looking for traces of their ancestors. Weave around the many islands and catch sight of eagles, shore birds, sea lions, seals, mink, river otters, and possibly whales.
Day Trip #4 -Whale Watching Boat Cruise/Kayaking Day Trip
Start this tour with an exciting half-hour ride by boat in the early morning with your kayak, guide and gourmet picnic lunch. En route, take in the scenery of the outside west coast waters, rocky bluffs with wind whipped trees, a colony of sea lions, and a historic native whaling beach. On one of the 100 islands in the park amongst the quiet coves and sheltered bays you will prepares for a day of adventure. Feast on a gourmet lunch and catch sight of amazing wildlife as you paddle.
