Overview

Wind River is a classic Yukon river known for its stunning hiking opportunities, remote wilderness and gentle whitewater which makes it suitable for canoeists who understand the basics of whitewater navigation. With its scenic mountain flights at the beginning and end of this wilderness journey and several days set aside for day-hiking in the mountains, the Wind River is a complete wilderness experience.

 

Itinerary Highlights

Take a scenic drive to the aircraft base where you will fly over remote Yukon wilderness landing at McClusky Lake.

Review your paddling skills and embark on the beginning of the trip towards Wind River.

Descend the Wind River stopping for at least 3 day hikes. There will be plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities.

Reach the spectacular Peel River Canyon for a final splash of excitement in class III waters. Enjoy the last of many beautiful nights camping in the wilderness.
