This Just In!
August 24th 2011
We love to hear that people are enjoying their Langford & Company trips... especially while they are still on them! Lucky for us, one family is happily venturing through Quirpon, a beautiful spot at the northern tip of Newfoundland. (That`s the Quirpon Lighthouse Inn, perched on the landscape past the icebergs.)
Before they took the ferry allowing them these gorgeous views, they had the chance to enjoy Gros Morne National Park. Many go on a rigorous 16km hike that leads to the Arctic alpine wilderness of the Long Range Mountains and the highest point in the park, the Gros Morne Mountain. Rare vegetation clings to this barren landscape and hardy inhabitants like the Woodland Caribou, Rock Ptarmigan, and Arctic Hare are often seen. It hosts spectacular views overlooking the glacier-carved fjords of Bonne Bay and Ten Mile Pond. You can also see the beauty on a biking trip, or on a sea kayaking tour. Venturing out with a marine biologist is one way to learn about the unique marine ecology and unusual geology of Bonne Bay. Bald eagles, belted kingfishers, common and Arctic terns, and minke whales are common sightings from the water.
We offer an amazing Gros Morne Multisport Vacation so that you can join in on the action. The family should actually be in the air on their way to St. John’s at this moment! Hope they`re having a safe and smooth ride!

Recently, we came across an article in the Globe and Mail entitled “The Great Canadian Bucket List." Featuring trip ideas ranging from seeing the wilderness in the Yukon to biking in Nova Scotia, we thought, what a great way to do something in honor of Canada Day.
One item that should be on everyone’s “Great Canadian Bucket List” is to experience the famously magnificent backcountry of Banff National Park. Rich with pioneer history and experienced through a number of incredible hiking trails, this is one trip that should not be missed.
We boast that our trips are “Made in Canada” all year round (not just on Canada Day!). You can get the best out of a trip to Banff with our Rocky Mountain Backcountry Hiking and Lodge Adventure- seen by clicking here: Rocky Mountain Hiking and Lodge Adventure . You’ll be staying in a comfortable lodge, eating homemade bread, and hike places like Shadow Lake and the Twin Lakes Trail.

Not your great-grandfather’s buggy
All aboard a different kind of buggy through the Churchill tundra
June 23rd 2011

Tundra buggies sound a little old-fashioned, until you climb the five and a half feet onto the vehicle and look across the more than a three and half feet it spans in width. This isn’t your great-grandfather’s buggy!
These all-terrain vehicle are used as a wildlife viewing vehicle in Churchill, Manitoba. Used by researchers and tourists alike, they allow humans to come within clear sight of polar bears. The buggies are also heat and washroom equipped, offering a comfortable setting for the optimal (and comfortable) viewing experience.
Hundreds of polar bears can be found waiting in early October and November for the Hudson Bay waters to freeze over. When this happens, they can return to hunting for their primary source of food: ringed seals.
Your guide will take you on a carefully charted route in order to protect the fragile ecosystem. The distinctive climatic conditions of the marine, boreal forest and tundra offer an unparalleled variety of flora and fauna during your adventure.
