"Remember that time on the Chilkoot when..."
June 22nd 2011
The fabled trail littered with historical gold awaits you in Yukon.
Let our guides take you through a panoply of spectacular and rugged terrain. Over 100 years ago, the Chilkoot Trail was the passage of choice for hopefuls during the Klondike Gold Rush. Tens of thousands of prospectors set out with their life’s belongings , evidence of which still lies protected along the trail, in the hopes of striking it rich.
This National Historic Site spans 53 km from Alaska to British Columbia, taking you through alpine tundra, onto a high boreal ridge and into the sub alpine boreal forest. From Skagway, Alaska to Bennett, B.C., this is a truly Canadian experience for the whole family.

A Thousand Little Islands
June 17th 2011

In Ontario, we strive to protect the natural, cultural and recreational environments that make up about 10% of the province’s surface - or the size of Nova Scotia!
In the spirit of Parks Canada’s 100 year celebrations, we at Langford & Company want to recognize the St. Lawrence Islands National Park. The archipelago of islands, known as Thousand Islands, straddle the US-Canada border in the Saint Lawrence River. We love the thought of a thousand little scattered islands when you consider that an island must be above water level all year round, have an area larger than 1 square foot and support at least one living tree. What a stoic measure of solitude!
Our favorite way to explore is by canoe, which gets you to all the corners of the sprawling space. Of course, to do this over the course of a few days means to camp in the great outdoors.
Camping is about finding the right measure of the rugged nature with the comforts of indoors. Whether you’ll find nature’s bliss in a tent or a cabin (or with a butler!) the choice is yours.
Ontario’s parks offer uncompromising beauty, adventure and relaxation.

Take a (sustainable) break in Yukon
June 10th 2011
We all need to take a break from the busyness of life and make it our business to have a little fun. But, we’re all increasingly informed and conscious of the impact our treks have on the planet. Make it your business to choose ethical travel!
At Langford & Company, we don’t like to brag about our earth-friendly trips because, well, it should just be the norm, don’t you think? But we think it’s important to mention this about our adventures, just in case you were wondering if we’re keeping our word.
Tread lightly in the Yukon on our Wind River and Big Salmon River Canoe Expeditions. The road-accessible put-in and take-out points along the Big Salmon eliminate the need for a float plane, reducing the cost of the trip. This is ideal for the beginner or intermediate paddlers looking for a medium length wilderness canoe trip. Kick up your feet and enjoy the protected northern view.
