Captiva Island Kayak Fishing is great for families!

Captiva Island Kayak Fishing
Eco friendly and fun way to fish shallow water
April 8th 2011

Kayak fishing is growing as a sustainable, active and fun way to fish.  In Southwest Florida, the barrier islands of Captiva and Sanibel protect Pine Sound which  makes for an amazing place to kayak and fish.  Most of the sound is less than 10 feet deep with coastal islands and oyster bars offering  prime feeding habitat for red fish, spotted trout, flounder, pompanao and half a dozen other saltwater species. Ben and I went a local guide who outfitted our kayaks with sand anchors, trolling motors, icebox, 2 rod and rells each, and tackle. Over on the gulf side,  my neice Caileigh  caught a 3 + foot Bonnethead Shark which just about dragged her kayak out to sea !
